Cornwall Fire and Rescue RAF Portreath Cornwall
We recently completed phase one of the refurbishment programme on the container
based fire simulation rig for Cornwall Fire and Rescue under the supervision of Simon
Grant and Nigel Jory whose knowledge and development skills in this area are
invaluable.
Working alongside these gentlemen we installed the garage simulation unit featured in
the pictures below. This unit has a heat defection shield from 3 mm plate and is
something of an experiment in giving the unit a longer working life.
If it proves beneficial by extending the workable life of these units then Simons concept
will have proven its self. Cornwall Fire and Rescue have a very well thought out rig
which features many useful simulation scenarios.

The benefit that they have over some other Brigades is the constant development and effort placed on this rig by Simon, Nigel and the team at
Cornwall Fire and Rescue.
